Interview With 90s Star Haddaway

Hella 90s Music spoke to 90s dance sensation Haddaway. Most famous for his song ‘What Is Love’, he reflects back on 90s music and reveals his plans for the future.

‘What Is Love’ was massive in the 90s and is still relevant in

2016, what do you think made the song stand the test of time?

It is just a great song; great songs always stand the test of time.

What was the inspiration for ‘What Is Love’?

The Quest for Love.

‘Life’ was also a very successful song; why do you think that ‘What Is Love’ is the one that has become the most famous?

’Life’ has a different approach and has some other meaning behind it, so it targeted a different crowd and is still very successful in the US.

The 90s are obviously a big part of your music; why did you choose to release ‘I Love the 90s’ in 2008?

The 90s was just a very happy and positive era and has to be alive as long as we can.

Do you think 90s music still is relevant to this day?

Absolutely, more than ever.

Where did you draw your inspiration for your music from; other 90s artists, or earlier artists?

The inspiration came from my own experience in life.

What were your favourite artists from the 90s?

Too many to name and a lot of them became my friends until today.

Are you working on anything at the moment, or releasing new material in the near future?

Yes, I released a new song in 2014 that became Top 20 in US Billboard dance chart and I am now working another one for this year.

Will it be similar to your earlier work from the 90s or will it be completely different?

Same groove, different style.

Have you got any other plans, music wise for the future?

Perform, have fun and enjoy life.
